Vehicle Description
This is 1986 Fiero GT is in fantastic original mint condition. Mid engine, 4 speed manual. The car comes from the Pacific Northwest and has no rust. The engine was replaced about 2,000 miles ago with a new Jasper engine. Fresh 4 wheel alignment. Everything is in excellent working condition with the exception of the A/C which is not charged. The fan and heater and all distribution gates are working perfectly but we did not charge the a/c.
Miles are original and accurate but the title is listed at exempt. You can see the mileage on the Carfax. The car has a theft on the history but is a clean title. You will have a very hard time finding one of these in this good of condition. Run's and drive beautiful. It's a blast from the past.
We are proud of our 5 star customer review rating and we work hard to keep it that way. Come in and see it for yourself. We are located at 1808 Reliance Rd, Goshen, IN 46526 and you can see all the pictures on our website at www.eckcoauto.com.
### Powertrain and Performance
At the heart of the 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT lies its robust 2.8-liter V6 engine, equipped with a 12-valve OHV architecture. This naturally aspirated powerplant produces approximately 140 horsepower and 120 lb-ft of torque, delivering a commendable balance between spirited driving dynamics and reliable operation. The OHV configuration utilizes a pushrod design, contributing to a compact engine profile well-suited for the Fiero’s mid-engine layout. The car only weighs 2,500 lbs, giving it a healthy power to weight ratio.
This power unit emphasizes smooth power delivery throughout the rev range, offering responsive acceleration ideal for both city cruising and spirited backroad performance. Mated typically with a 4-speed manual transmission, the Fiero GT allows drivers precise control over gear selection, enhancing the engaging driving experience that this sporty coupe is known for.
### Chassis and Suspension
The 1986 Fiero GT employs an innovative mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) architecture that was unprecedented among American cars targeted at the affordable sports segment at the time. The mid-engine layout, with the engine located centrally behind the passenger compartment, results in excellent weight distribution—roughly 40% front, 60% rear—that enhances handling balance and road-holding capability.
The suspension system features independent front and rear setups. Upfront, MacPherson struts provide precise steering response and strong lateral grip, while the rear utilizes a sophisticated independent suspension with coil springs and struts, contributing to stable cornering and absorbed road imperfections. This configuration results in crisp handling dynamics, inspiring confidence whether navigating twisty roads or daily commutes.
### Exterior Features and Styling
The 1986 Fiero GT showcases a bold, angular design signature of 1980s automotive aesthetics, characterized by sharp body lines and a wedge-shaped profile that emphasizes speed and agility even at a standstill. The car measures approximately 165.5 inches in length with a 98.4-inch wheelbase, compact enough for urban maneuverability while maintaining a presence on the road.
Distinctively, the Fiero GT features:
- **Pop-up Headlights:** Aerodynamic and visually striking, the retractable headlights align flush with the bodywork when not in use to reduce drag and maintain clean styling.
- **Hood Scoop/Center Ventilation:** A functional hood scoop enhances engine cooling, an important consideration given the mid-engine layout.
- **Flush-mounted Glass Hatchback:** The rear hatch glass integrates seamlessly with the body, opening wide to facilitate access to the rear cargo area.
- **17-Inch Alloy Wheels:** The GT model is equipped with larger alloy wheels with a distinctive multi-spoke design that contributes to both aesthetics and performance through reduced unsprung weight.
- **Rear Spoiler:** A modest integrated rear spoiler elevates t
